EDDM (Munich) to ETSF (Fursty)
Recommended Aircraft
C172 G1000
Flight Summary
You'll start at the big Munich airfield, fly over the smaller Oberschleißheim airfield, and then get to experience many of the sights in Munich before ending up flying to the former military airfield of Fuerstenfeldbruck (Fursty), which is no longer in operation but (sadly) made history in 1972.

Since Munich is one of the cities that was photogrammetrically mapped, all the landmarks are actually recognizable as such. I regularly fly over Munich ... and believe me, MSFS2020 offers a very realistic impression!!!

We assume a westerly wind and start at EDDM, Munich, heading west, first following the A92 freeway for a bit.

On the way to Oberschleißheim airfield, with its great aviation museum, you will fly over the lakes near Eching and see the area of the Olympic regatta course on the right ahead, a striking rectangular water area. Shortly before the Oberschleißheim airfield, you will fly over the wonderful Oberschleißheim Castle.
At the A92/A99 interchange we turn towards downtown Munich. While we are flying almost exactly towards the Olympic Tower, we can enjoy the alpine panorama in the distance if the weather is fine.
We pass the Olympic TV tower, the Olympic grounds with its stadium, and a little to the east the BMW tower in its distinctive four-cylinder shape and the smaller BMW building with the brand's propeller logo.
From the left window we can see the English Garden shortly after. We pass in the further exactly the famous Frauenkirche, the city hall and the Viktualienmarkt. After another curve we see from the right window the central railroad line and the large fairground, where the famous Oktoberfest (hopefully soon again) takes place. Wonderfully, we can also see below us the banks of the Isar River, which is a wonderful place to stroll in the summer. Far to the right, you pass the Castle XXX which might be worth a short deviation from the route. Leaving Munich, we pass the Pasing station with its shopping center and a train depot. In the south, towards the Alps we can see the Ammersee. On the way to ETSF (ET = military, S = South, F = Fuerstenfeldbruck) we can see some lakes and a golf course. For a nice direct approach to 'Fursty' leave the route planning in the area of my home Emmering and deviate to the north into the cross approach. The ETSF airfield has not been operated for several years and is no longer approachable. Let's see how long we are granted this in MSFS2020. The airfield has a sad history in connection with the 1972 Olympic Games. Anyone interested in this will find what they are looking for on Google and Wikipedia. There is also a one-kilometer-long building at Fursty.
