San Salvador is the first land sighted on 12th Oct, 1492, by Christopher Columbus on his first expediition to the 'New World'.
The route winds through a number of stunning, small islands/cays. According to the Bahamas National Trust (BNT), 80% of visitors to the Exuma Cays come to experience nature. There are small towns, beautiful beaches and natural, unspoilt areas. You could take the Cessna Caravan and drop off some supplies, or transport some local people with your spare seats! The journey is just over an hour in the Caravan if you don't stop, but I highly recommend some stops and touch-and-go's at some of the stunning little airstrips.
Staniel Cay is a highlight for a stop; it's full of nature. If you're a James Bond Fan, you could visit Thunderball grotto, or else go and see the Bahamian Pigs and Anolis lizards.
This route ends at Norman’s Cay, which served as a strategic location for drug cartels to transport large amounts of cocaine from Colombia into the United States, so it has a controversial history. Now it's a stunning, unspoilt location and great for an overnight stop... and a party!
