A brief but scenic tour of the North Carolina mountains. Depart Asheville Regional [KAVL] Runway 35 towards the historic Biltmore Mansion and downtown Asheville, North Carolina. Continue on this flight path and you will fly past downtown and toward the Grove Park Inn. Turn northeast by east and fly over the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. Land at Mountain Air, an nontowered mountaintop airfield [2NC0]. Mountain Air is at 4432 ft; the runway is 2900 x 50. Some of the peaks between Asheville and Mountain air are higher, so either go around them or go over them. Either way, it is a spectacular view.
