This route connects the tourist mecca of Milford Sound, and the closest settlement to the north, being the town of Haast. No roads connect these two locations, so the journey must be made by air or sea.

The GPS will guide you north to Big Bay, then inland over Lake McKerrow into the spectacular forest clad Cascade River Valley, followed by the Jackson River, before the terrain ahead flattens out to reveal Haast on the coast again.
