Cyprus, officially called the Republic of Cyprus, is an island country in the eastern Mediterranean Sea. It is the third largest and third most populous island in the Mediterranean and is located south of Turkey; west of Syria; northwest of the Gaza Strip, Israel, and Lebanon; north of Egypt; and southeast of Greece. The country's capital and largest city is Nicosia.

Cyprus' rocky coast has long, sandy beaches and it has an elongated peninsula at the northeast end of the island: (Peninsula of Karpasia). Cyprus has two ranges of mountains in the north and south, with a flat low-lying plain between. Cyprus is a very diverse region both geologically and geopolitically.

Flight Narrative:

We start our journey at the largest airport in Cyprus: Larnaca International (LCLK), on the south side of the island of Cyprus. Larnaca International Airport is Cyprus' main international gateway and is the larger of the two commercial airports in the area controlled by the Republic of Cyprus, the second largest airport being Paphos International Airport on the island's southwestern coast where we will end this excursion.

On the way in this trip, from we will more/less be travelling in a counter-clockwise direction around the island of Cyprus making eight full stops and one touch and go and visiting many POI.

On our departure at Larnaca, we'll fly into the eastern UK Sovereign Base Area stopping at Kingfield Airbase in the Dhekelia military area then to Cape Greco on the southeastern tip of the island before heading north up the east coast to airports in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus: these being Gecitkale, Ercan and the Pinarbasi Air base. On the way we'll visit an old Roman fortress on the northern coast, view the location of the giant mountain Flag of Turkey before heading south for a mid-flight break at Mammaria-Nicosia airport in the United Nations Buffer Zone. (Nicosia is the capital of Cyprus).

The next two airports are in close proximity, Kakatamiaas and Marki Airfield LCTS which has a very short and narrow runway so we’ll just touch and go here. We'll then fly west over the Amiandos Asbestos surface mine on the way to visit Mount Olympos and the Troodos Mountain Range. Once we leave the mountain area we’ll head south to the southern coast to visit the RAF area of Akrotiri which is located in the western UK Sovereign Base area. Finally, we head west and back into the Republic for our final stop at Paphos International Airport LCPH.

During our flight we’ll full stop at 8 airports plus one touch and go (at Marki Airfield (LCTS) and explore many POI/locations before we reach our destination of Paphos on the southwest tip of the island:
