27/3/1999 - 'The Kosovo War'. A Yugoslav Army unit shoots down an USAF F-117 Nighthawk stealth aircraft by surface-to-air missile. The pilot ejected safely and was discovered by an A-10 pilot flying his first combat mission. He covered him during the hours of darkness whilst directing other A-10s against Serb air defences and coordinated efforts by an MH-60 Pave Hawk and other aircraft which ensured the F-117 pilot was rescued safely.
